PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Wilshire-Riverside baseball team from northeast Portland will have to wait another day for its opening round game in the Little League World Series.

Organizers suspended play Thursday because of rain and a chance of lightning.

Wilshire-Riverside was scheduled to play the Southwest champions from Pearland, Texas at noon Pacific Time.

They'll now play on Friday at 8 a.m. PT.

Wilshire-Riverside is representing the Northwest and it's the first time a team from Portland has made it this far in the tournament since 1958.

If the team wins Friday, they'll play again on Sunday. If they lose, they'll play again on Saturday.

The game will air on ESPN.
