Beaverton parents among those claiming to have found glass in Huggies baby wipes

Posted: Updated:

Parents across social media are sharing stories about finding glass-like pieces in packages of Huggies baby wipes.

A father in Beaverton told Fox 12 that he noticed the issue when he was using the product on his 3-year-old and saw that the wipes scratched his son.

A U.S. News and World Report story posted Friday noted that a video from a California mother seemed to spark much of the controversy, and started other parents posting similar stories and videos about the issue.

Huggies released a statement on its Facebook page around 10:00 p.m. PDT Thursday, saying the company takes, “any concerns about our products very seriously,” and that they are working with the original poster about the issue.

A company spokesperson told Fox 12 Friday that there was no glass involved in the production of the wipes. However, the company does believe that what parents think are the glass shards are most likely “melted threads of microscopic plastic used in the manufacture of our wipes.”

The company is asking that anyone with questions about the wipes contact the company on their website or call 1-888-485-6839.
