One lane of Hwy. 26 reopens near Manning as crews fight brush fire

MANNING, OR (KPTV) -

The Oregon Department of Transportation has reopened one lane Highway 26 near Manning after closing it Saturday as crews fought a brush fire.

Two way traffic will continue to be flagged through indefinitely to allow for fire fighting efforts on the nearby wildfire.

Crews from the Banks Fire department responded to the fire Saturday afternoon, as the fire began to move toward timber.

The road was closed so that low-flying helicopter crews could do water drops near the highway.

The detour for the road closure is using Timber Road. ODOT is advising travelers to avoid the area, use the Timber Road detour or expect delays.
