MCSO Dive Team recover body of missing swimmer

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office River Patrol has recovered the body of a swimmer who went under the water while swimming near the Suttle Road Moorage Saturday afternoon.

Emergency responders from Portland Fire Bureau, Port of Portland Fire, Clark County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Coast Guard also reported to the area.

The swimmer was an older adult male. He had been swimming off a cabin cruiser with another person when he began to struggle and call for help.

The other swimmer tried to help the missing man, but he struggled and went under water. Neither of the swimmers involved were wearing a life jacket.

The MCSO Dive Team was activated and and conducted dive search operations in an attempt to locate and recover the missing swimmer in the area where he was last seen.

The divers found the lost swimmer at approximately 7:45 p.m. The body has been turned over to the Multnomah County Medical Examiner's Office for examination.
