Man could face charges after recording confrontation with state trooper

Posted: Updated:

A video showing a scuffle between a Coos Bay-area man and an Oregon State Police trooper is getting a lot of attention online.

Mike Scott claims the trooper pushed him for no reason, but OSP said Scott was interfering with the trooper's investigation.

The video, which Scott post on Facebook Sunday, had already been viewed more than 50,000 times Monday and more than 800 people had shared it with friends. Click here to view the original post (WARNING: Video contains language that some may find offensive).

OSP said it was helping Coos Bay police with an investigation Saturday when the trooper found a car near Scott's home that was wanted in connection with a reckless driving case.

According to OSP, the video doesn't show the entire encounter, including Scott coming out of his home and sitting on the roof of the car.

The video begins with Scott circling the patrol car and the trooper getting out and confronting him, telling him to get away from the car.

Scott claimed he wasn't doing anything wrong and was only trying to get video of the officer because he refused to give Scott his name and badge number.

OSP planned to ask a prosecutor to charge Scott with interfering with a police officer and disorderly conduct.
