LAFAYETTE, OR (KPTV) -

A 21-year-old man pulled out in front of an oncoming car on Highway 99W and was hit and killed, according to Oregon State Police.

Emergency crews responded to Milepost 31.5, just north of Lafayette, at 11:10 p.m. Friday.

Investigators said Fernando Lopez, 21, of McMinnville, pulled out from Southeast Locks Loop Road onto Highway 99W in his 2000 Acura Integra into the path of a 1990 Ford Crown Victoria.

The Ford collided with the driver's side door of the Acura.

Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford, 60-year-old David Logsdon, and his passenger, Diane Logsdon, both of McMinnville, were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to police.

The highway was closed for about three hours while investigators were at the scene. The investigation is continuing into the crash.
