Family of five displaced by house fire in Beaverton

Posted: Updated:

Fire crews are still investigating the cause of a house fire that broke out early Tuesday morning on Northwest Perimeter Drive in Beaverton.

When crews arrived at the scene, the two story home had 25 to 30 feet of flames coming from its side.

Firefighters had to knock out a gas meter that was fueling the flames, so Northwest Natural Gas crews had to turn off the gas line before the fire could be contained completely.

Fire crews were worried that the flames could spread to a neighboring house, but the fire was contained in time.

Firefighters reported that the family of five and their dog who lived in the home was able to evacuate quickly with no injuries.

Power was knocked out throughout the neighborhood, which is about eleven blocks.

It will be a few hours before crews are able to get the power back on.
