Inmate goes missing from work crew in SE Salem

SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Local law enforcement agencies were helping search southeast Salem for an inmate who walked away from a work crew Tuesday morning.

The Oregon Department of Corrections said the ten-man crew was working near Richmond Elementary School when William A Beebe, 38, went missing around 9:30 a.m..

Beebe is an inmate at Santiam Correctional Institution in Salem, serving time on two counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle. He was scheduled to be released in April 2017 at the earliest.

Beebe is a white man, 6 ft. 2 in. tall and 180 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. When he went missing, Beebe was wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans that bore the word "inmate" and the Department of Corrections logo in orange.

Anyone who sees Beebe or knows where he is should call Oregon State Police at 1-800-452-7888.
