PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A motorcyclist riding with a group that was speeding near Kelley Point Park died after slamming into the side of a truck, according to Portland police.

Emergency crews responded to the 6100 block of North Marine Drive at 8:23 p.m. Sunday.

On Tuesday, police identified the motorcycle rider who died as 20-year-old Joshua Terry.

Investigators said Terry, along with several others on motorcycles, left the park and headed eastbound on Marine Drive. Several witnesses told police the group was speeding, possibly over 100 mph, and at least one rider was performing a wheelie.

Police said a man driving a pickup, who also left the park and was ahead of the motorcyclists, did a U-turn on Marine Drive to head back westbound and Terry crashed into the driver's side door area.

Terry was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck, identified as 24-year-old Robert Somes, was injured in the crash.

The investigation is continuing, according to Portland police, and no arrests or citations have been issued. Upon completion of the investigation, the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office will review the case.

Anyone with information about this crash is asked to contact Officer Erik Koppang at 503-823-2216, erik.koppang@portlandoregon.gov.

The motorcyclists were part of a group known as Red Door Meet, according to the Portland Police Bureau, which includes motorcycle and car performance enthusiasts.
