CANNON BEACH, OR (AP) -

A purse was stolen in Cannon Beach, a credit card inside was used at Walmart in Tigard and then the purse was found at a Fred Meyer store in Newberg.

Now, police are asking for the public's help identifying the theft suspect.

Police said the purse was stolen on Aug. 1. Because of the multiple locations involved in the case, detectives believe the suspect may live or spend time in the greater Portland metro area.

Police released surveillance images of the suspect, as well as his van.

He is believed to be a white man with short brown hair. He wore a watch on his left wrist.

At the time he made fraudulent purchases, he was wearing sandals that had a checkered pattern on the top strap. He was seen driving a silver minivan.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact the Cannon Beach Police Department at 503-436-2811 or police@ci.cannon-beach.or.us.
