Amazon Prime subscribers in the Portland area can now get select items delivered to their homes in just an hour.

Amazon launched its Prime Now service in Portland Wednesday, just hours after announcing it was launching in Seattle.

Subscribers of Amazon Prime Now are able to order tens of thousands of items, including household goods and even televisions.

Users can also purchase groceries, prepared meals, and baked goods for 1-hour and 2-hour deliveries from New Seasons Market, World Foods, Uwajimaya and Cupcake Jones.

"We know and appreciate how much people love shopping at New Seasons, but it's not always possible to make it over to your neighborhood store," said Wendy Collie, President and CEO of New Seasons Market.

Amazon will continue to add local stores to the Prime Now service.

Prime Now launched in select Portland zip codes, and will expand rapidly to additional zip codes across the city soon.

Amazon Prime members can download the Prime Now app, available on IOS and Android devices, and users will be notified when the service is available in their zip code.

In Portland, Prime Now is available from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.

“We are excited to bring Prime Now to Portland, offering ultra-fast delivery from Portland's favorite local stores," said Simoina Vasen, spokesperson from Amazon's Prime Now service.

Two-hour delivery is free for Amazon Prime users, and one-hour delivery is available for $7.99.
