Franklin High School takes over vacant Marshall H.S. during renovations

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Franklin High School students are starting a new school year Thursday, but in a new building.

Students at Franklin high school will be at the vacant Marshall High School for the next couple of years while their school is being renovated.

Teardown at the old Franklin High School started this summer as a part of a 160 million dollar modernization project.

The district says when it’s done, the school will have performance upgrades like a two story lobby and performing arts center.

Marshall High School has been closed for several years, so it will have to undergo some work as well to get the building ready for students.

School administrators say teachers, classes and everything else will be the same, just in a new location.

Police are sending out warnings to drivers in the area who do not usually expect to see a school zone near Marshall because the school has been closed for so long.
