Red Lion Hotel closing on Vancouver waterfront, impacts 82 jobs

VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A 53-year-old hotel with views of the Columbia River and Interstate 5 Bridge will soon be closing.

The Red Lion Hotel located at the Quay is set to close on October 31 to make way for the Vancouver Waterfront redevelopment project.

This closure will impact 82 jobs. Those employees will have the option of getting a severance package based on years served and their current responsibilities.

Another option for those employees will be to apply for open positions at other Red Lion locations.

The Human Resources team at the Quay location have been given a list of open positions to pass on.

With a new waterfront hotel slotted for construction as part of the redevelopment project, Red Lion executives are hoping the city will choose to keep Red Lion as the hotel's namesake.

That decision has not yet been made.
