Newberg lifts recreational fire ban

Posted: Updated:
NEWBERG, OR (KPTV) -

The Newberg Fire Department has lifted the ban on recreational fires it issued last Friday, August 21, after critical fire conditions subsided in Yamhill county.

The ban prohibited all open-flame recreational fires, like patio or backyard firepits, charcoal barbecues and propane campfire pits.

The ban is lifted only for fires in the city of Newberg and the area covered by the Newberg Rural Fire District. The ban in state parks issued by Oregon Department of Forestry is still in effect.

The city advises residents to use caution due to the still dry conditions, and that season restrictions on backyard and agricultural burning are still in place.
