NEWBERG, OR (KPTV) -

The city of Newberg released a statement Friday afternoon announcing that the city and former City Manager Jacque Betz have reached a finalized agreement of separation.

Betz was at the center of controversy earlier this summer after Police Chief Brian Casey was put on leave for undisclosed reasons. The city council then placed Betz on leave three days later.

Internal police investigation documents alleged Betz was involved in an "inappropriate personal relationship" with a Newport police officer. She was later cleared of facing any criminal charges relating to the investigation.

In the release, Betz was commended for her efforts in the role of city manager, including simplifying the budget process and finding over $800,000 in savings for city taxpayers.

Betz will receive more than $58,000 in severance pay. Her last day as City Manager was August 20.
