High winds move the finish line for Hood to Coast relay

SEASIDE, OR (KPTV) -

The windy weather has blown into Seaside and will move the finish line for the Hood to Coast Relay.

Post- race events have been moved to the Shilo Inn basement.

Event organizers posted the change announcement on the event website earlier Saturday morning.

The finish line will now be on the prom in front of the beach, and there will be no beach access for the event.

Organizers said in the statement that their top goal was “to protect the safety of all parties involved in the event,” and that runner safety was what prompted the change.

An unseasonable windstorm is expected to bring gust topping 70 miles per hour to the coast Saturday morning.
