BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

A fire tore through a Beaverton apartment complex early Sunday morning.

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue crews responded to Southwest 125th Avenue off of Hall Boulevard at 1 a.m.

They arrived to find heavy flames coming from several units in the building and a second alarm was immediately called to bring additional resources to the scene.

Due to the sheer amount of fire, crews conducted a defensive attack until the bulk of the flames were out.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.

Firefighters said the apartments were not equipped with sprinklers, which were not required at the time the complex was built.

Firefighters said everyone had safely evacuated the building. The Red Cross provided food, clothing, shoes and lodging for five adults and one child who were forced from their homes.
