IDANHA, OR (KPTV) -

The mayor of Idanha, a small Oregon town near Detroit Lake, and a passenger in his car were arrested on meth charges after a traffic stop.

Marion County deputies stopped their car on Main Street near High Street in Jefferson on Sunday night.

Deputies said the driver of the car, identified as 68-year-old Cletus Moore, is the mayor of Idanha. According to the Oregon Blue Book, the population of Idanha in 2013 was 135 people.

Investigators said the car was towed due to Moore driving uninsured. An inventory search of the car led to the discovery of meth, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Moore and his passenger, 39-year-old Christopher Kosack, admitted to driving to Jefferson to purchase meth.

Both men were booked in the Marion County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine and later released. They are set to appear in court Sept. 28.

According to court records, Moore was previously convicted of meth possession in 2009 in Marion County and again in 2011 in Washington County.
