LEBANON, OR (KPTV) -

Fire crews responded to a three-alarm fire at Mallard Creek Golf Course in Lebanon on Monday night.

The call came in around around 11:30 p.m., and when firefighters arrived they found the clubhouse in flames.

Second and third alarms were called for quickly, which brought additional water tenders to the rural location. The nearest fire hydrant is about five miles away.

Crews were able to contain the fire to the clubhouse and it was under control by 2 a.m.

The fire caused $1.3 million in damage, according to firefighters, and the pro shop is a complete loss. However, the golf course remains open.

The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical malfunction in a circuit breaker. Void spaces in an addition to the building allowed the fire to spread and hampered firefighting efforts, according to investigators.

Around three dozen firefighters responded to the scene from Albany, Sweet Home, Tangent, Scio and Brownsville.
