SILVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

Tucked away in a quite coffee house in downtown Silverton’s is former mayor Stu Rasmussen’s invention, the Kiss Meter.

Rasmussen made headlines when he was the first elected transgender mayor in the United States, and while he is not it office anymore, he is still staying busy.

Rasmussen has been working on coin-operated "Kiss Meters" that rank the feelings of two people kissing through the device. He said the machines are getting attention.

After a customer puts in a coin, they touch the metal plate on the side and kiss that special someone. The meter will let them know if it’s true love, or if they should just stay friends.

The machines that are up in three locations in Silverton, including the Silver Creek Coffee House, Radio Shack and Mac’s Place, pick up a small electrical current between the two people to rate their connection

Stu said people can find the best deal on his new invention on eBay, where the machines sell for around $400.
