PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Salt & Straw is celebrating the opening of TriMet’s MAX Orange Line and Tilikum Crossing Bridge of the People by creating a new special-edition ice cream flavor, Olive Oil Burnt Orange Marmalade.

The Olive Oil and Burnt Orange Marmalade ice cream first made its debut at TriMet’s Orange Picnic & Fireworks Spectacular on August 22, and got great reviews.

Beginning Friday, September 4 and throughout the month, Salt & Straw is donating a portion of the proceeds from the special-edition ice cream to Ride Connection.

Ride Connection is a non-profit organization that provides transportation options for people over 60 and people with disabilities in Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington Counties.

“The opening of the new MAX Orange Line and Tilikum Crossing is a monumental event for the Portland area and we are incredibly honored to have the opportunity to mark the occasion through a partnership with TriMet and Ride Connection,” says Salt & Straw co-founder and owner Kim Malek.

The MAX Orange Line opens September 12.
