Next move for Oregon National Guard hero is Dancing with the Stars

After the media blitz following his heroic efforts stopping an attack on a French train, Oregon National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos is now going to be back in the spotlight showing more than his military skills.

Skarlatos, 22, will be part of the latest season of Dancing with the Stars, joining other names such as actor Gary Busey and celebrity chef Paula Deen in the shows 21st season.

Skarlatos said in an interview with ABC News that he has hesitant for the attention, but excited to be part of the show and to work with his partner, Lindsay Arnold.

"She's awesome, she seems really nice and I am really excited," he said.

Later, when answering audience questions, Skarlatos said he was nervous to be in front of the judges.

"I'm not that great of a dancer, so I am kind of intimidated already," he said.

Skarlatos spent much of last week doing national interviews after he, two friends he was traveling with and a British man stopped a man from shooting passengers on a train going from Amsterdam to Paris. Skarlatos even earned the Legion of Honor, the France's highest award.

He returned home for a short trip earlier this week before going back to New York for Wednesday morning's announcement.
