LINN COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

A Wilsonville woman was killed after driving across the center line of Highway 20 and slamming into a school bus carrying a high school soccer team, according to police.

Emergency crews responded to Milepost 79, just east of the Santiam Junction and west of Santiam Pass, at around 2 p.m. Thursday.

Oregon State Police said Camille Nelson, 32, was driving westbound in a 1993 Chevrolet pickup when she crossed into the wrong lane and hit the eastbound school bus.

Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The school bus had 43 members of the Sheldon High School soccer team onboard, including the driver, coaches and students.

A few people on the bus reported minor injuries, according to police.

The Sisters School District sent another bus to take the students to Sisters Middle School, where counselors were made available to them.

Both directions of the highway were shut down for hours. By 4:45 p.m., one lane had reopened and two-way traffic was being flagged through the crash scene. By 7 p.m., the highway was fully open.

The crash remains under investigation.
