ALOHA, OR (KPTV) -

Deputies are searching for a suspect who stabbed a 16-year-old boy and attempted to steal his cell phone and scooter.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a teen who was stabbed in the chest and was receiving medical treatment at noon Sunday.

The boy told investigators he was riding his scooter to Southwest Kinnaman Street at 182nd Avenue in Aloha when another young man approached him, asked if he had the time and then attempted to rob him.

"I heard someone yell, 'hey stop it, get away from me,' and that made me wonder what was going on," said witness David Driver.

As they struggled, the victim said the suspect stabbed him with a knife.

"The next thing I heard was a loud commotion and someone scream out," said Driver. "Then, the next thing I heard was foot step, like a  'bam bam bam' down the sidewalk. It sounded like they went down the street."

The teen managed to get away on his scooter. His parents took him to the hospital for treatment. He is now back home recovering.

Deputies and a Tigard K-9 team searched the area but were unable to find the suspect.

The suspect is described as 17 to 20 years old, 5'6" to 5'8" with darker skin, gauge earrings and short dark hair. He was wearing a gray jacket with black pants.

A Beaverton Police Department detective completed a composite sketch of the suspect Thursday.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has any additional information is asked to contact the sheriff's office at 503-846-2500.
