GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

Jay, an 85-year-old man had been missing from his Gresham Alzheimer’s Care Home for 30 minutes before he was found stuck in a tree.

Police report that Jay’s son-in-law found him almost a quarter mile away, perched near the top of a large tree that had fallen across Johnson Creek.

Jay somehow, without his cane, went through brush, made his way across the tree-bridge and was suspended approximately 15 feet above water.

While one officer stayed with Jay, other officers looked for the best way to get him out safely.

Holding hands, with a firefighter on one side and a police officer on the other, Jay was able to get back on solid ground.

Jay was then celebrated by an emotional reunion with his family.

His son-in-law, along with officers and firefighters carried Jay to an awaiting ambulance.

Officers report that Jay only sustained minor injuries.

Jay was in some pain, but expected to make a full recovery.
