PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Emergency crews safely extricated a man from a vehicle that was wrapped around a tree early Saturday morning.

Portland Fire & Rescue were called out to a traffic accident around 1:53 a.m that was located at NE Knott and 20th Ave.

When crews arrived, they found a compact SUV had struck a large tree on the drivers side door. The dash had crumpled enough to entrap the drivers legs.

Additional crews were called out to help.

PF&R said after several minutes, the top of the car was cut off with reciprocating saws and hydraulic cutters.

The man was safely removed from the car and taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Portland Police Bureau is investigating the crash.
