Bull rider killed at amateur rodeo in Oregon

CROOK COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

A 58-year-old bull rider was thrown from a bull, stepped on and killed during a rodeo in Crook County.

Emergency crews responded to the Paulina Amateur Rodeo in Paulina at 3:25 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies said Richard Wayne Perry, 58, of Prineville, was thrown from a bull and stepped on during the event.

Lifesaving measures were attempted for more than 45 minutes, but Perry was pronounced dead.

Deputies said the rodeo event was shut down for more than an hour. The event has taken place in Crook County for more than 60 years.

"This was a tragic accident that was witnessed by family and friends," according to a Crook County Sheriff's Office release.
