PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Deputies say a man that was shot at while behind the wheel of a truck drove himself all the way from Ridgefield to Portland, before winding up at the hospital.

Deputies say that man is still recovering in the hospital Monday, with non-life threatening injuries. They are not releasing his name at this time.

Deputies say this all happened right around 8 pm Sunday, off Northeast 209th street in the Ridgefield area. They were called there on a report that someone tried to run over a resident with a pickup truck,  and that resident fired a gun at the car, striking the driver.

Deputies say that driver sped off, and ended up getting into a crash at an intersection several blocks away.  Deputies say the victims in that hit-and-run crash reported seeing bullet holes in the pickup truck.

Then, later that evening, Portland police say they found a pickup truck with bullet holes parked at Kaiser Permanente on North Interstate in Portland.  They also found the driver, suffering from what they described as “traumatic injuries related to gunfire.”

He was taken by ambulance to a trauma center in Portland, according to deputies.

After interviewing witnesses, deputies say they arrested Michael J. Hatch, 38, on a count of felon in possession of a fire arm.

Deputies say they’re still investigating the case and interviewing witnesses, but they expect additional criminal charges will likely follow.
