Head-on crash shut down Hwy 18 near Grand Ronde; child critically injured

GRAND RONDE, OR (KPTV) -

A child was critically injured in a head-on crash that shut down Highway 18 near Grand Ronde on Monday.

Emergency crews responded to Milepost 12, about nine miles west of Grande Ronde, at 3:15 p.m.

Oregon State Police said at least two vehicles were involved in a head-on crash. A child was thrown from one of the cars and taken to the hospital by helicopter.

Troopers said the child suffered life-threatening injuries.  

The crash reconstruction team was called to the scene.

By 4:45 p.m., the Oregon Department of Transportation said one lane of traffic was being flagged through. By around 6 p.m., all lanes had reopened.
