Hillsboro Hops lose first playoff game 4-2

For the first time in their three seasons, the Hillsboro Hops need to win the next two games in order to keep their season alive after losing to the Salem-Kaiser Volcanoes 4-2 Monday night.

The game was tied 1-1 after the second inning, but it was those next three innings would define the game.

The Hops scored their second run in the fourth from a sacrifice fly, but the Volcano’s came back to score two and take the lead 3-2.

The Volcanoes scored one more in the fifth on a walk to make move up 4-2.

The seventh inning was all about the bullpens. Caleb Smith from the Volcanoes had a perfect sixth and seventh inning, and Ryan Holsted had a 1-2-3 inning in the ninth to finish up the game.

Breckin Williams from the Hops’s had a perfect sixth inning, and Ariel Hernandez had two scoreless innings and allowing only two hits.

The South Division Series is best-of-three, so the Hops will have to win the next two games in order to move on. 

The next game of the series will be on Tuesday, September 8 at 7:05.
