GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

A group of four known gang associates went to a Gresham home with the intention of attacking someone, but the homeowner ended up shooting and killing one of the suspects, according to police.

Police said the home invasion victim does not have any known gang associations.

Police were called to the Rolling Hills Mobile Terrace and RV Park on the 20000 block of Northeast Sandy Boulevard at 10:15 p.m. Saturday after numerous neighbors reported hearing gunshots.

Officers arrived to find multiple people injured and one man dead. The man who was killed was identified Tuesday as Eriberto Sumano, 25, of Gresham.

An autopsy determined a single gunshot wound was the cause of death.

Investigators said Sumano, 24-year-old Jesus Bucio, 17-year-old Leonard Chavez and a 16-year-old went to a home with the intention of assaulting the homeowner's friend. However, when they learned their target wasn't there, police said they attacked the homeowner instead.

The victim fought back, grabbed a pistol and shot two of the suspects, according to police.

The 16-year-old was also shot. He remained in the hospital Tuesday.

Bucio was stabbed during the altercation and treated and released from the hospital. Chavez, who is being identified because he is facing the Measure 11 charge of first-degree assault, was not injured.

The victim suffered stab wounds to his face and back. He was treated and released from the hospital Sunday.

Bucio was booked in the Multnomah County Jail on an unrelated probation violation, but charges are expected for him in connection to this case.

At least one of the suspects lived in the same mobile home park, according to detectives.
