Summer strikes back

Posted: Updated:
PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The first week of September had a very fall-ish feel to it, but summer is still hanging on in Portland.

Fox 12 forecasters have thrown a few 90 degree days in the forecast towards the end of this week.

Portland has already set an all-time record for most 90-degree days in a summer.

That record stands at 27 days so far and may jump by two after this week.

90 degree days in Portland are not unheard of during September. There is an average of two days in the 90s each year in September.

The typical final day Portland reaches its final 90 degree day is on September 8.

However, in this record-setting warm summer in Portland, we look to skyrocket into the mid-90s on Friday, nearing record highs.

We won’t be in “heat wave” territory, though. A quick flip back to cool and showery weather arrives as we get into early next week.
