PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police responded to the Fred Meyer store on West Burnside in Portland Wednesday afternoon after receiving reports of a disturbance between several men, some of whom may have been armed.

Police said three men were involved in some kind of disturbance near Southwest 18th Avenue and Taylor Street.

As officers were responding, they received reports that one man had a gun, while another had a knife. Witnesses said the men were headed north on 18th Avenue.

Officers were searching the area in and around the store since witnesses said the man armed with a gun and one of the other men may have entered the store. West Burnside Street was shut down in both directions in front of the store.

Officers finished their search, determining the suspect was not in the store and allowing normal store operations to resume.just after 3:00 p.m.

Police said they were looking for a white man in his 50s with a heavy build. He was wearing a black shirt with cutoff sleeves, khaki shorts and athletic shoes. Police said he was accompanied by a white man with a thin build, black shirt and possibly jeans.

Officers are asking that anyone with information on this case should call 911..
