Crime Stoppers adds reward in case of medals stolen from family of fallen Navy SEAL

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A family upset after medals earned by their late son, a Navy SEAL killed in Afghanistan in 2005, were stolen is now getting help from Crime Stoppers.

The family of Jeffery Lucas shared their loss earlier this week, after their home was robbed. Among the items stolen were medals awarded to Lucas, as well as two SEAL Team 10 challenge coins.

“It's just upsetting.  They don't mean anything to anybody but us.  And it's just wrong,” Lucas’s mother Patricia told Fox 12. “Nothing can bring him back.  But you have little parts of him hanging around and you can read them and kind of have good memories and smile.”

Investigators with the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said the robbery happened sometime between Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

Crime Stoppers of Oregon is offering a reward of $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.

Tips can be called in to 503-823-4357, submitted online to CrimeStoppersOfOregon.com or texted in to 274637.
