BEND, OR (AP) -

A vandalism case at Tumalo Falls that drew national attention last spring after a photo of the vandals was posted on social media has finally been resolved.

The Bend Bulletin reports (http://is.gd/NGMc0D) the U.S. Attorney's Office in Eugene announced Wednesday that a fine was issued and restitution has been paid to repair the railing that was damaged.

Brett Nelson of Prineville had spotted children carving their initials into the railing at a Tumalo Falls overlook in the Deschutes National Forest. He says he received a rude reaction from the man who was with the children. He captured a photo of the family and posted it on Facebook.

The photo gathered more than 64,000 shares on Facebook, and the story was covered by major newspapers and television stations.
