ALBANY, OR (KPTV) -

Hank Curtis Davis of Albany has been charged with murder after shooting his mother Thursday evening.

Police Officers responded to a shooting on SE Tudor Way around 6:00 p.m. where they found Patricia Jean Davis in the home with multiple gunshot wounds.

Officials said Davis,27, surrendered to police after their arrival. A search warrant was served to recover evidence at the scene and begin the investigation.

Davis, who has absolutely no criminal history, is now charged with murder and is in the Linn County Jail.

He appeared in court Friday, in heavy chains with his head hanging. Officers claim Davis shot his mother while she sat in her recliner in the home.

According to court documents, Davis admitted to the shooting when he called 911 and actually asked officers to help him.

“I’ve just shot my mother, I’m gonna be in my front yard. I will be unarmed sir, I’m scared,” he told dispatchers. “I don’t want to be in my room with anymore guns. I can’t walk into my living room because my mother’s out there. Um, somebody help me, I’m in my room. I don’t want to hurt anyone else please.”

Court records showed Davis told officers he had PTSD and was fascinated with guns, and that last month he asked Albany police officers to come to his home and take his guns.

One neighbor, Bertha Perez, said she had to explain the shooting to her children who where playing on the street when the shooting occurred and when police arrived.

"I told them what happened and they said they heard shots and screaming,” she said. “my daughters are like, 'Where?  Here on our street?'"

Another neighbor, Barbara Youngman, heard the shots, and said the time between them was eerie.

"There were not rapid fire at all," she said. "There was a shot and then it was quiet for like five minutes, then there was another shot.”
