Jose Felipe Flores, 60, of Salem, was arrested in Woodburn after firing several shots in the air over four people in his backyard during a Labor Day gathering.

Woodburn police responded to a call around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday September 6, at the 500 block of Settlemier Avenue.

Witnesses described the suspect as an older Hispanic man.

Police report that witnesses also said he appeared intoxicated and angry that his wife had left to go to the store.

Officials say the suspect was identified as Jose Flores, who had been involved in a disturbance earlier that day.

The next day, detectives found Flores at a broccoli field where he worked, just outside of Gervias.

Flores then confessed to shooting the gun, but he was too drunk to remember what he had been arguing about.

Police found gun later in the field where Flores was working.

Flores was also arrested for an incident that happened  at a bar back in June 2015 after Flores pointed a gun at someone playing a poker machine.

The victim knew Flores, and no shots were fired in that incident.

Flores was arrested on multiple charges, including five counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
