PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Years of work have wrapped up and TriMet is getting ready for the grand opening of the Tilikum Crossing bridge and MAX Orange Line service this weekend.

Tilikum Crossing is the first new bridge in Portland since the 1970s and it will carry buses, MAX trains, the Portland Streetcar, cyclists and pedestrians when it opens Saturday. No personal vehicles will be allowed on the bridge.

TriMet has scheduled a number of events along the new MAX Orange Line, which runs between downtown Portland and Milwaukie, traversing Tilikum Crossing along the way.

The grand opening celebration begins at 9:30 a.m. The bridge and Orange Line service officially open to the public at 11 a.m.

In celebration of the event, all rides on TriMet buses, trains, the Portland Streetcar and Portland Aerial Tram will be free on Saturday.

Companies around Portland are getting in on the celebration as well, releasing special edition products such as an Orange Line IPA from Bridgeport Brewing, burnt orange marmalade and olive oil ice cream from Salt & Straw, and even a special orange pair of Nike shoes.
