PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

An 18-year-old rape victim waited a week to come forward because she was afraid nobody would believe her.

Now, the man who attacked her will spend 14 years behind bars.

Justin Weber, 22, pleaded guilty to charges including first-degree rape and sex abuse. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison earlier this month.

Police said the conviction stems from a Portland Police Bureau Sex Crimes Unit Investigation starting in November 2014.

The 18-year-old victim came forward after a friend convinced her to file a police report. Investigators said the attack happened Nov. 2, 2014 and was reported to police on Nov. 8, 2014.

Based on the woman's report, officers were able to locate the crime scene and collect "vital evidence," according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Weber was identified as the suspect on Dec. 1, 2014. He was then arrested and booked in the Multnomah County Jail.
