Victoria Jamison, also known as "POW," says junior roller derby players inspired her novel. It tells the story of a 12-year-old girl learning to skate and her friendships along the way. "Roller Girl" is based on POW's own experience as well as juniors she had worked with. She hopes her book will encourage others to join the sport. About 150 kids are a part of the Rose City Rollers Junior League. The novel landed on the New York Best Sellers list for 13 weeks. Their home season opener is September 19. For more information, visit RoseCityRollers.com.
