Study: Washington is a happier state than Oregon

Posted: Updated:

Washington is among the happiest states in America, according to a new report, but that happiness apparently doesn't cross the border into Oregon.

A study by WalletHub found Washington to be the seventh happiest state in the country.

The rankings are based on metrics including emotional health, physical health, income levels and sports participation rates.

Oregon came in at 28th.

Washington scored highly for work environment, community environment and recreational activities.

Oregon, on the other hand, was below more than half the states in the categories of emotional and physical well-being and, somewhat surprisingly, recreational activities.

Utah, Minnesota and Hawaii were the top states for happiness in the U.S., according to the study, while Kentucky, Alabama and West Virginia were at the bottom.
