Honor Flight gives WWII veterans the opportunity to visit Washington DC

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A group of 50 Oregon World War II veterans will travel to Washington DC to visit the World War II Memorial, which was organized by Honor Flight.

The Veterans are from eastern and northwest Oregon, and their average age is 90.

“I never dreamed of going back to where I served in Quantico, Virginia, which is only 50 miles from Washington DC,” one US Marine Corps Women’s Reserve veteran said. 

The group took off from PDX at around 6:40 Thursday morning.

This is the 12th trip organized by Honor Flight, a non-profit organization which is working to reward all serving all World War II veterans with a trip to DC.
