A woman in Corvallis woke up to a stranger not only in her bedroom, but on top of her in bed early Wednesday.

Police said it happened around 4:30 a.m. at Seventh Street Station, an off-campus student housing community near the campus of Oregon State University.

The woman, who lives in a third-floor unit, told police the man was rubbing himself on her through his clothes and the covers.  The interaction lasted ten minutes before she convinced the man to leave, but she had no idea how long he’d been there before she woke up.

She was not physically hurt.

“I couldn’t imagine being in that situation.  That would be terrible,” said fellow resident and OSU student Samantha Colton, who lives a few buildings down from where it happened.

Colton heard about the attempted sexual assault from a safety notice posted to her door by apartment managers.  Everyone at Seventh Street Station received the letter reminding them to keep their doors and windows locked.

During an investigation of the incident, the victim told officers she believed it was possible she or her roommate had left their front door unlocked.

“I’m actually kind of scared because I like to sleep with my window open, but a few nights ago I had a weird feeling and I was like, I’m going to close my window now,” said fellow resident and OSU student Stephanie Lockett.

The suspect is described as a college-aged male with dark complexion and a heavy Middle Eastern accent. He had black curly hair, glasses and was wearing a red and yellow striped shirt.

The victim said he appeared to be between 5'8" to 5'10" with a medium build.

Anyone with information about the suspect or this investigation is asked to call Corvallis Police Department at 541-766-6556.
