Vancouver school vandalized, staff members find trees ripped and broken glass on playground

VANCOUVER, WA (AP) -

Fox 12's most wanted vandalized a Vancouver elementary school, knocking down nearly a dozen trees in the parking lot and leaving broken glass scattered on the playground.

One parent told Fox 12 this isn't the first time the school has been targeted.

Vancouver police said there have been three reports of vandalism at Endeavor Elementary since August, leaving staff, parents and kids confused as to why anyone would want to target their elementary school.

“This school is a very safe place for kids, maybe their only safe place so when this kind of thing happens its very disruptive,” Courtney Wood-Kimball, president of the school’s parents and teachers organization, said. “And I felt for students it'd be hard for them to come to school and see someone deliberately ruined part of their school.”

Staff members said they also found broken bottles on the school's playground.

This isn't the first time their school's been targeted. Last August, someone destroyed a bench donated to the school to help students who feel lonely.

Vancouver police said there is no suspect information at this time, and they don't know if the cases are related.

In the meantime, Wood-Kimball said they're working with the district to get new trees planted.
