Millions of people across the nation will be registering to vote on September 22 to celebrate National Voter Registration Day.

According to a press release, National Voter Registration Day is a time when thousands of people ensure their family, friends and neighbors are registered to vote.

National Voter Registration Day is also the largest one-day effort of the year to register voters.

The Oregon Student Association and the Bus Project have teamed up to celebrate the holiday, and ensure that all young Oregonians have the opportunity to vote.

“As we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act and the passage of Oregon’s  New Motor Voter law, The Bus Project and The Oregon Student Association want to continue to highlight the importance of registering every eligible voter,” said Nikki Fisher, Executive Director of the Bus Project.

The Oregon Student Association and The Bus Project emphasize that these upcoming elections will impact young voters across Oregon and the nation.

Both programs are pledging to register 1,000 young people to vote in Oregon.

"We hope that National Voter Registration Day reminds all young people to get registered and get engaged in the political process,” said Oregon Student Association Executive Director Mario Parker-Milligan.
