SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Police were stationed at West Salem High School on Tuesday morning due to a threat made against the school.

A Salem-Keizer School District spokesman confirmed that an automated message was sent to parents at 6:50 a.m. regarding the threat and extra security at the school.

The Statesman Journal reported that a Salem Police Department patrol car was parked in front of the school, with officers at the entrances on Tuesday.

The school district did not reveal any details about the threat, but said it is being investigated and taken seriously.

Classes were on their regular schedule Tuesday.
