KEIZER, OR (KPTV) -

A Keizer teen who, along with a friend, shot his parents and killed his mother will spend at least 40 years behind bars.

Brett Pearson and Robert Miller II were both given life sentences Wednesday with a minimum of 40 years in prison before they will be eligible for parole.

Pearson pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated murder, attempted aggravated murder with a firearm and conspiracy to commit aggravated murder in March. Miller pleaded guilty to the same charges earlier this month.

The two were 17 years old when they were arrested in March 2014.

Police found the body of Michelle Pearson, 44, at a home on Ventura Loop in Keizer at 11:30 p.m. March 5, 2014. Her husband, 57-year-old Bill Pearson, was also suffering from serious gunshot injuries.

Bill Pearson survived the shooting.

In a jailhouse interview with FOX 12 in March 2014, Brett Pearson said he and Miller had planned out the shooting for some time while they were on meth. He apologized, saying, "I got so far gone that I decided to take somebody's life, including my own parents."

"Regardless of being under the influence, it's still a decision I made," Brett Pearson said in March 2014 from jail. "It's still something I did. It's still something that was very wrong and never should have happened."

As part of their sentencing Wednesday, Pearson and Miller were each ordered to pay the Pearson family $120,000 in restitution.

Brett Pearson turns 19 years old next month.
