PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

As far as 6th birthday parties go, Baz Biery’s guest list is a little unusual.

Aside from his school friends and family, there’s one grown-up on the list who stands out: Portland Mayor Charlie Hales.

“My dad works for the mayor and I never realized that before and I really wanted the mayor to come to my birthday party,” Biery told Fox 12.

His dad doesn’t exactly work for the mayor; he works for the City of Portland.  But through his work at City Hall, Baz’s older brother got to meet Charlie Hales, and now, Baz hopes he will too.

He drew the mayor an invitation, reading: “Dear Mayor, I would like you to come to my zombie birthday party.”

On the front cover?

“[I drew] the mayor with a birthday present, thinking to give me car,” Biery added.  “I mean, like a play car.  If it was a real car, that would be amazing!”

“We sent it to work with his dad and he delivered it, and then we thought, ‘Oh, that’s so cute – obviously he’s not going to come, but how cute,’ and he got a good laugh out of it,” Biery’s mother, Amy Jacobsen said.

But then, the little boy heard back from the city leader.

“Thanks for the awesome invitation, Baz!” Mayor Hales posted to Twitter, along with a picture of the hand-drawn invitation.  “I hope you have the best zombie birthday ever.”

Biery and his family don’t really expect the mayor to come to the party Sunday, but he isn’t giving up.

“Maybe one day on my next birthday maybe I’ll try to invite the mayor again,” he added.

Mayor Hales, consider it a standing invitation from your smallest biggest fan.
