Fox 12's Most Wanted targets a Newberg neighborhood, stealing from nearly half a dozen cars

NEWBERG, OR (KPTV) -

Fox 12's Most Wanted strolled through a Newberg neighborhood early Wednesday morning, and targeted unlocked cars stealing whatever was inside of them.

One of the victims, Rick Murray, caught the suspect on surveillance going through his car.

Murray posted the clip on Facebook, and within minutes, he received feedback from multiple users who say they were also victims of theft the same morning.

The video shows the suspect walking up to the car, checking if it was unlocked, then stepping inside.

Murray said he did not notice anything wrong until he got up for work.

"I came out to go to work in the morning and noticed my stuff out of the glove box, the center console, the little money holder I have, everything was scattered in the car," Murray described.

He thought it was his kids but later found out it was not, and reviewed his home's surveillance footage.

"I started reviewing the video so I made a copy of it and thought that little slime bucket and put it on Facebook," he said.

Newberg police said about five residents on the same street reported stuff missing from their cars, the same night.

Police said it's uncommon for the quiet Newberg neighborhood.

Murray said the suspect only took a dollar or two from his car, but says he is worried the next time could be different.

"He could come around the wrong guy, and he might not be a nice guy, and just for stealing a few dollars out of a vehicle, it might not be a good outcome for him," Murray added.

Police said there are no suspects at this time, but they are actively checking pawn shops for any of the items that were reported stolen.
