Officers with the Portland Police Bureau on Friday were searching for a suspect in a stabbing that occurred along the waterfront near the west end of the Burnside Bridge.

Police said they were called out around 11 a.m. and encountered the adult male victim, who told them the stabbing took place in Tom McCall Waterfront Park, south of the bridge.

The victim was taken to a Portland hospital for treatment of injuries that police said did not appear to be life-threatening.

Police provided only a vague description of the suspect, saying he was African-American and possibly armed with either a screwdriver or a hatchet.
